We live in a world that is very confused about what a husband is, and what God has called a husband to be. 1. "The husband is the head". This happens the day of marriage. 2. A husband is to be a provider, of food, clothing, housing, healthcare, Christian education, church, and a place of rest to those under his care. A husband that does not provide for his own "hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel". 3. A husband needs to be a protector, from physical harm, from temptation, from the allurements of the world, from situations that cause emotional strain. This should be a natural reaction to his love for his wife and children. He's like a soldier carrying a shield. When Eve brought Adam the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, Adam's responsibility was to protect them from the evil that would result from eating it. He failed. 4. A husband must be a teacher. They are expected to know a lot of things, and teach them to their wives and children. 5. A husband must be a friend.
