Summary: A bond servant in the Old Testament choosing to be a servant to his master for life, even though he could have went free on the seventh year. Drawing parallels from this for the Christian. 1. The decision to choose to be a servant is out of love In the same way, a Christian chooses out of love to be a servant of Jesus . 2. the decision is voluntary the same way to be a servant of Jesus is voluntary. 3 the decision is permanent. The Christian must be dedicated! The pierced ear is a sign to show he belongs to the master and that he will serve him for life. Do we as Christians want to belong to the Master, Jesus Christ and be His servant ? Do we want to have our ears pierced, as it were, for a sign that we belong to the master? Are we love servants of Jesus ? Do we love Him so much that we are committed to being His slaves for life? We as Christians must be willing to do the Master's will in all areas of life. We must be committed to be His servant all our life. To love to do His commandments. To be servant of Jesus Christ, we must publicly identify with Him. Can men tell that we love Jesus?
