Summary: The human story is one of redemption: humanity was created by God, fell into sin, and became separated from Him. Because a holy God requires justice, a price had to be paid for sin, foreshadowed in the Old Testament system of atonement. This is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the “Lamb of God,” who, through His sacrifice, paid the price once and for all to redeem humanity and restore the relationship with God. Redemption is described as being “bought back” and offered as a gift of grace through faith. In response, believers are called to live humbly and showing Christlike compassion. Finally, the redeemed are to live in obedience, remembering they were bought with a price and are meant to glorify God in both body and spirit.
